Housing officer drop-in sessions

We are pleased to announce that from January 2026, we are launching regular drop-in sessions where you can meet with your housing officer face-to-face.

Housing drop-in sessions in Waverley are primarily for Waverley Borough Council tenants and leaseholders to discuss various housing management issues with council staff, including:

  • repairs and maintenance
  • rent and service charge issues
  • tenancy management issues (e.g., anti-social behaviour)
  • leasehold queries

These sessions provide an opportunity to speak with Housing Officers without needing an appointment. They will operate on a first-come, first-served basis, with each tenant or leaseholder allocated a maximum 10-minute slot.

Why attend a drop-in session?

These informal sessions are designed to make it easier for you to get the support and information you need. Whether you are a tenant or leaseholder, drop-in sessions offer you the chance to speak directly with your housing officer in a relaxed, no-appointment-needed setting.

  • Drop-in sessions let you discuss your concerns directly and get immediate responses where possible.
  • Get quick answers to your questions.
  • Sometimes it's simpler to pop in and have a conversation than to wait for a callback or exchange multiple emails.
  • Build a relationship with your housing officer.
  • Putting a face to the name makes future communication easier and helps your housing officer better understand your home and any ongoing issues you might have.
  • Discuss multiple issues at once. If you have several things on your mind, from repairs to tenancy queries, you can address them all in one visit rather than making separate calls or emails.
  • No need to book ahead. Life is busy, and it's not always easy to commit to a specific appointment time. Drop-in sessions give you the flexibility to come along when it suits you.
  • A more personal service. Some things are just easier to explain in person. Whether it is showing photos of a repair issue or discussing a sensitive matter, face-to-face conversations can be more effective than phone or email.
