Car parking consultations

We are seeking community feedback on parking provision and management across the borough’s towns and villages. The consultation focuses on balancing the need for sufficient parking with supporting sustainable transport and safeguarding local neighbourhoods from parking-related issues. It covers both residential and non-residential parking standards, including guidelines tailored to different areas such as town centres and villages. The consultation invites residents, businesses, and visitors to share their views on parking levels, charges, enforcement, and potential improvements to ensure parking supports the economic vitality and accessibility of Waverley’s communities. The outcomes will help shape future parking policies and strategies aligned with local needs and Surrey County Council’s broader transport framework.

This summary reflects the Council’s goal of effective, fair, and sustainable parking management to benefit everyone across Waverley.

The consultation invites feedback on the following plans:

  • introduce parking controls at Farnham car park and the Memorial Hall car park in Farnham
  • introduce car parking charges at Weyhill road car park in Haslemere
  • at Beacon Hill car park in Hindhead and the library car park and high street car parks in Bramley there is a proposal to update the maximum stay and no return periods, as well as provide vehicles with a free parking period at a payment machine
  • consolidate and update parking provisions relating to the Council’s existing off-street car parks, including terms and conditions of use and the issue or grant of permits to reflect the current operating situation in the Council’s public off-street car parks
