How decisions are made

The Planning Case Officer will undertake an assessment of the application, including a site visit, for a majority of applications.

The officer will receive any consultation responses and there may well be negotiations over amendments to plans or the submission of additional information. There will be regular case review meetings.

The Council cannot decide planning applications simply as it chooses. It is constrained by law and by precedents set in the courts about the matters it can legitimately take into account when making its decisions.

Some planning applications are decided by Planning Officers (delegated) and some will need to go to a Planning Committee for review or out to consultation.

During this period, interested parties can view the submission documents, consultation and third party submissions and comments when they search for planning applications online
