Broadwater Park Development

Map of Broadwater Park in a circle

Project background

The golf course at Broadwater Park is built on a former landfill site. The landfill was closed and the golf course was built around 30 years ago. In recent years, it has become apparent that the current cap for containing the landfill is not working as it should be, and that significant work will need to be completed to enable the area to continue being used for public leisure and recreation. The golf course closed in December 2018.

We want to start the process to move forward with planning permission on the site for a new green space that will be widely accessed and used by the local community. Therefore we want to understand what the priorities are for local people who are the future users of this site.

Engagement survey

In February 2023, we ran an online survey for residents to indicate how they are using the park currently, and what they would like to see developed on the site.

The survey was extremely well received, with just under 2000 local people responding. You can view an analysis of the survey results by clicking the button below.
