Weydon Lane project, South Farnham

Waverley Borough Council is planning to transform a former landfill site at Weydon Lane - locally known as Brambleton Park – into a park for leisure purposes, just southeast of the town centre in the residential area of Weydon.

Project background

From the 1950s to 1980s this site was used as a landfill. It’s located southeast of Farnham town centre, in the residential area of Weydon. Some residents might know the site as ‘Brambleton Park’. After the closure of the landfill, a protective clay cap was placed over the waste, transforming the area into an informal open space for activities like dog walking, running or simply using it as a shortcut.

Over the years, various ideas have been proposed to develop the land, and the council is again looking at the opportunity to assess the grounds future potential. Firstly, the current clay cap needs repairing.

Find out much more on our project information site www.waverley.gov.uk/weydonlane,  including ideas for the park, Frequently Asked Questions, and a timeline for the project.

Project update spring 2026: Works to develop the site for leisure purposes will not be starting any time soon because of budget limitations and the ongoing Local Government Reorganisation.

We hope to continue the development of the site after the new West Surrey council has been established in 2027, and we currently estimate that it will take around five years from restarting the project to the opening of a new park.
