Waverley Council Taxpayers to receive letters on how to claim the £150 Energy Rebate

Waverley Council taxpayers in Council Tax bands A-D, who have not yet received the £150 Council Tax Energy Rebate will receive letters over the next few days explaining how to claim their payment.

65% of those eligible to receive the rebate, who pay their Council Tax bill by direct debit have already been paid directly into their bank account, totalling £2.5m in payments across the borough.

For those residents who do not pay by direct debit, the letter will include a QR code which can be scanned by mobile or manually entered into a web address where the resident can enter their bank details to complete their application for the rebate. The information required will be used to validate and verify the payee bank details and ensure the right person is paid.

Using the QR code is the quickest and easiest way for residents to receive payment of the rebate, as it is automated.

The online application requires manual processing and will take longer. Anyone who encounters any issues scanning the QR code should fill in the following application form at

Please make sure to check your letter has your Council Tax Reference Number attached, to ensure this is a genuine letter sent from Waverley Borough Council.

If you are ever unsure if you are communicating with a genuine council representative please contact the council on 01483 523 333 to speak to an officer.

Please see our Energy Rebate Payment FAQ webpage for further information.

Discretionary Payments

Waverley Borough Council are now ready to receive applications for the discretionary element of the energy rebate process. Residents can apply via our online application form.

Once your Council Tax account details have been entered on the online form, you will be given the option to apply for the discretionary payment if no previous payments have been made under the main Council Tax Energy Rebate scheme before.

Letters will be going out this week to the households who have already been identified as eligible. Properties that are eligible and pay by direct debit will automatically receive a payment from our Council Tax team. Those who do not pay by direct debit, but are eligible for this scheme, will need to apply via the online application form.

Please see our Discretionary Policy for the Council Tax Rebate (Energy Grant) Scheme for further information and eligibility requirements.
