Waverley Borough Council supports ASB Awareness Week 2025

This week marks Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) Awareness Week 2025, running from 30 June to 6 July, with the national theme #MakingCommunitiesSafer. The campaign highlights what ASB is, who deals with it, and how residents can report it.

Waverley Borough Council officers will join partners from Surrey Police and others at various engagement events around the borough during the week so do please look out for them.

ASB refers to actions that unreasonably interfere with a person’s normal use and enjoyment of their home, garden, or neighbourhood. It includes a wide range of behaviours such as:

•           Rowdy or noisy behaviour in otherwise quiet areas

•           Drug use or dealing

•           Graffiti and vandalism

•           Fly-tipping

•           Harassment

•           Damage to property or the environment

You can find more examples on the Waverley Borough Council webpage – What is Anti-social Behaviour? | Waverley Borough Council.

Waverley Borough Council works closely with Surrey County Council, Surrey Police, and neighbouring boroughs through the Safer Waverley Partnership, aiming to reduce crime, share intelligence, and take coordinated action.

Surrey Police have dedicated Neighbourhood Specialist Officers and Police Community Support Officers to ASB hotspots and have worked with Waverley Borough Council, in issuing Criminal Behaviour Orders, Closure Warning Notices, Partial Closure Orders and Full Closure Orders and conducting regular patrols to stop ASB.

Councillor Kika Mirylees, Waverley Borough Council's Portfolio Holder for Community Services, Leisure and EDI, said:

“Anti-social behaviour can have a lasting impact on individuals and communities. We are committed to working with our partners to tackle it head-on. I urge anyone affected by ASB to report it - your voice matters, and support is available.”

If you are experiencing ASB, you can report it via the Waverley Borough Council – Report Anti-social Behaviour | Waverley Borough Council

If the behaviour is criminal, contact Surrey Police on 101, or 999 in an emergency, or report online via the Surrey Police webpage -  Report antisocial behaviour | Surrey Police.

You can also request an Anti-social Behaviour Case Review (formerly Community Trigger review) if you’ve reported ASB multiple times and the issue persists. Learn more on the Anti-social Behaviour Case Review | Waverley Borough Council webpage.
