Residents reminded to be vigilant about scam personal alarm calls

We are aware there has been an increase in scam calls regarding personal alarms.

The Information Commissioner's Office is encouraging the public to take proactive steps to safeguard family members, particularly those who may be vulnerable:

  • Look out for rogue direct debits being paid for unknown reasons, and make sure they have not signed up for services they may not be aware of.
  • Ensure they are registered for the TPS, which provides a free and easy way to opt out of unwanted marketing calls: You can visit their website at TPSOnline.
  • If they are still receiving unsolicited marketing calls despite being registered, report these incidents to the ICO without delay. You can visit their website at ICO.org.

You can contact our Careline team at careline@waverley.gov.uk or call 01483 523535 and leave a message for us to call you back. Find out more about Careline by visiting our Careline personal alarms webpage
