Christmas parking offer in Farnham signals town is open for business

Waverley Borough Council, in partnership with Surrey County Council and Farnham Town Council, is introducing a special Christmas parking offer in Farnham to support local businesses during the festive season.

From 9 December 2025, to 1 January 2026, enjoy parking for just £1 per entry from 1pm to 8am, Monday to Thursday, in all Waverley Borough Council car parks in Farnham. This initiative aims to encourage shoppers and diners to enjoy everything Farnham has to offer during this crucial trading period.

This year, Farnham has faced unique challenges due to the ongoing Town Centre Improvement Works, which are part of the Farnham Infrastructure Programme. While these works will deliver long-term benefits - such as improved traffic flow and a better shopping experience - they have impacted footfall and trade in the historic market town. The Christmas period is vital for local retailers and hospitality businesses, and this short-term measure will help boost activity while works are paused.

The cost of the initiative - just under £40,000 - will be shared equally between Waverley Borough Council, Surrey County Council, and Farnham Town Council. This partnership demonstrates the three councils’ collective commitment to supporting local businesses and ensuring Farnham remains open and welcoming during the festive season.

Waverley Borough Council Portfolio Holder for Enforcement and Regulatory Services, Councillor Tony Fairclough said:

"Christmas is a vital time for our high streets. This offer shows that Farnham is open for business and ready to welcome visitors. We’re proud to work with our partners to support the town during this period of change."
