Waverley Borough Council has created a map of stunning locations across the borough that can be seen upstaging the Hollywood A-listers in some of the biggest films (and TV) of the last two decades.
With the lockdown having been extended, and the inevitable return to classic British weather following an unseasonably warm spring, what could be better than putting your feet up and touring Waverley by film?
No-matter what your preferred genre, there’s something for everyone; from children’s movies (War Horse), comedy (Hot Fuzz), period drama (Howards End), action (Skyfall), and Marvel universe (Captain America) to … we’re really not sure (Pride and Prejudice and Zombies) and many, many more. And once you’ve finished the films you can go through the borough’s TV credits and break out the box-sets.
You can find the map at www.waverley.gov.uk/filmtour and follow the links for more information about all the featured films.
Film and television production are an important industry in Waverley, with each day of filming bringing around £40,000 into the borough. The council’s Economic Development team works closely with local business to offer help and advice on promoting their locations to production companies. The films showcase our beautiful borough and bring additional tourism, which – in normal circumstances – is worth over £200m a year to the local economy.
Filming on Waverley owned sites is managed by the council’s experienced Parks and Countryside team, who can assist production companies with their extensive local knowledge, contact other landowners and signpost to local suppliers and accommodation. For more information contact: email@example.com.
