Driver licences - Renew your taxi or private hire driver's licence

You need to renew your driver licence every three years. We will normally remind you in good time before your licence expires but it is your responsibility to provide us with all the documents we need 10 days before your licence expires.  

What you need to do

1. Make an appointment with your GP to get a Group 2 medical report
2. If you haven't registered with the GOV.UK DBS update service - contact us for a meeting to complete your criminal record check form (DBS). It can take 8 weeks for the police to send this report to you. When you receive your certificate you must register with the GOV.UK DBS update service and pay the annual fee. The certificate will then be kept up to date for you.
3. Complete our Renewal application form (PDF)
4. Send us all your documents together and pay 10 days before your licence expires:

• medical report
• DBS report
• application form.
