Have your say on Dunsfold Park Garden Village

Waverley Borough Council is seeking views on plans for Dunsfold Park Garden Village. Planning officers at the council have created a draft Supplementary Planning Document (SPD), which if adopted, would lock in a strategic framework for building houses on the site, which was allocated in the borough's Local Plan Part 1.

The new document will provide all parties with clear guidance on what the council expects from any new settlement at Dunsfold Park. The SPD includes a strategic overview or 'masterplan' of everything the site should contain and a detailed design code. This guidance is intended to supplement and add detail to the site allocation policies in Local Plan Part 1.

The SPD would become a material planning consideration when determining any future planning applications submitted by a new owner of the site.

The draft document is open for comment from Monday 22 November 2021 until Monday 20 December 2021. It can be viewed online, and comments submitted at

Several in-person and virtual events will be held throughout the consultation period for the community to view and comment on the document. Please see our webpage above for details of these events and how to sign up.

Councillor Liz Townsend, Waverley Borough Council Portfolio Holder for Economic Development, Parks, Leisure and Dunsfold Park, said: "We are absolutely committed to having an exemplar Garden Village built at Dunsfold Park. The SPD sets out our vision for a high-quality carbon-neutral new settlement that will provide a mix of market and genuinely affordable housing and create significant employment opportunities locally.

"Sustainability is one of our most important goals, so the SPD aims to ensure that the future village will have this embedded in every aspect of its planning, design and delivery.

"I would urge all those in the local area to read the consultation documents or visit one of the events and please feedback any comments that you have to us. "

Hard copies of the SPD and accompanying documents are available to be viewed at main reception, Council Offices, The Burys, Godalming GU7 1HR (by appointment only, please call 01483 523333). Alternatively, they can be viewed at Bramley and Cranleigh libraries. See for addresses and opening times.
