Fifteen businesses from across Waverley signed up to pilot our Go Green for Business support scheme in 2025, an internationally recognised, business-friendly environmental accreditation certified by Green Mark.
Launched by Waverley Borough Council in partnership with Carbon Architecture who deliver Green Mark, this initiative helps businesses understand and reduce their environmental impact while providing a clear framework for sustainable growth. The scheme is designed to help businesses thrive in a changing world and benefit from more sustainable ways of working, including lower energy costs and stronger employee and customer engagement.
We would like to congratulate all the businesses for their commitment to sustainability and for successfully taking part in the pilot programme. Many have received their first Green Mark certificates, marking an important milestone in their sustainability journey.
To recognise their achievements, Waverley Borough Council will host a special celebration event in September, bringing together participating businesses to officially present the certificates, to showcase their successes and share their experiences.
To help tell these inspiring stories, we commissioned Alexander, a talented UCA Farnham film student, to create a series of short videos highlighting the steps local businesses are taking to reduce their environmental footprint.
Councillor Liz Townsend BEM, Portfolio Holder for Planning and Economic Development, said:

Their commitment demonstrates that environmental responsibility and business success go hand in hand. By taking practical steps to reduce their environmental impact, these businesses are helping to create a stronger, more resilient local economy, and I look forward to celebrating their achievements at our special event in September. We also look forward to supporting the new cohort of businesses keen to move towards a more sustainable future”

"These businesses are showing real leadership in tackling climate change at a local level. Every action taken to reduce emissions, improve resource efficiency and embed sustainable practices makes a difference. The enthusiasm shown by all the businesses has been inspiring, and I am delighted that we will be recognising and celebrating their achievements together in September. We have created a valuable green peer to peer network with this first cohort which will expand with the second scheme. I hope their success encourages many more organisations across Waverley to begin their own sustainability journey."
