How Waverley residents can show their respects on Remembrance Sunday

Published Friday, 30 October 2020

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, it will not be possible to mark this special day in the usual ways.

However, you can recognise the day whilst following the government guidance around social distancing and keeping yourself and others safe.

For those wishing to show their respect at 11am on Sunday 8 November and on Wednesday 11 November (Armistice Day), why not take part in the two minute silence on your doorstep or inside your homes? A national service will be televised as well.

Some churches may be hosting small services according to COVID-19 guidelines. Contact organisations directly to find out if they are live streaming their service.

You can back The Royal British Legion (RBL)  Poppy Appeal in a new way to adapt to the threat of Covid-19. Please visit the Royal British Legion website for key ways to get involved and support - from fundraising and taking part in virtual Poppy Runs, to ordering poppies and buying poppy merchandise from their Poppy Shop.
