Waverley re-states objections to drilling at Dunsfold

Council officers and the Portfolio Holder for Environment and Sustainability, have written to Surrey County Council to voice their strong objection to plans for oil and gas exploration at Dunsfold

An application by UK Oil and Gas Limited (UKOG) will potentially be considered at Surrey’s Planning and Regulatory Committee meeting on 27 February. Waverley Borough Council Planning officers have responded to a second round of consultation, after the applicant submitted further information in November last year. This was apparently intended to satisfy a number of the concerns raised by the council and residents during the initial consultation, which closed in August.

In the latest response, Waverley officers maintained their previous objections to the proposals, including the assertion that there is still ‘insufficient information on a range of technical areas to enable the proper consideration of the application’.
