Attitudes to council housing

Published Wednesday, 28 November 2018

Is there discrimination in Waverley? Do you feel there’s a stigma attached to living in a council home?

Waverley’s Housing Overview & Scrutiny Committee has launched a new project to examine whether there is a stigma around social housing in the borough.

Our aim is to ensure that, if a stigma exists, we do everything we can to tackle this and support our residents.

What are your views on this? Have you ever experienced prejudice as a Waverley tenant? You can have your say on this topic by taking part in one of our tenant drop-in sessions taking place across the borough during December:

Godalming Baptist Church (Monday 10 December)

Haslewey Centre, Haslemere (Tuesday 11 December)

Cranleigh Arts Centre (Wednesday 12 December)

Farnham Memorial Hall (Monday 17 December)

There will be also be the chance to be entered into a prize draw to win a £50 supermarket shopping voucher.

If you need any assistance in attending, have any special requirements or are unable to make the drop-ins please contact or call 01483 523078.

An additional evening event may be arranged depending on demand.

I'm not a Waverley tenant, how do I take part?

If you are not a Waverley tenant or live outside the borough, but would like to share your views on this topic, you can take part in our online survey, which runs until 11.59pm on Monday 17 December.
