The Mayor of Waverley, Councillor Denise Le Gal marked the completion of 16 new council homes at Ockford Ridge in Godalming by cutting the ribbon at the official opening ceremony.

Councillor Le Gal was joined at the ceremony, which took place on Thursday 20 September, by Waverley Borough Council Portfolio Holder for Housing, Councillor Carole King and ward councillors Councillor Andrew Bolton and Councillor Paul Follows. Council officers and representatives from the council’s construction contractor, W Stirland Limited and residents of the new homes also attended.

The six houses and ten flats were built and equipped to the highest standards and include the first four bedroom houses to be built on Ockford Ridge. They are also energy efficient, so tenants will save on their heating, hot water and electricity bills.

Following the ceremony, residents of the new homes and their guests were invited to enjoy a light buffet, provided by building contractor W Stirland Limited, at the Ockford Ridge Social Club.
