Waverley Borough Council Encourages Wider Participation To Represent The Community

Published Tuesday, 4 September 2018

Waverley Borough Council has launched a campaign to encourage those who live or work in the area to consider standing as a councillor in next year's borough, town or parish council elections.

Anyone interested in standing for election in May 2019  – either for an established political party, or as an independent –  is invited to drop in to the prospective candidates evening on 10 September between 5pm and 8pm at the Council Offices in Godalming.

The event will give potential candidates an overview of the role councillors play in local government, as well as an understanding of the different services councils provide and an opportunity to speak to existing councillors about what it is like to represent their community.

A Facebook event for the Prospective Candidates Evening is live at: www.facebook.com/events/284402352160588/
