Waverley is working with other councils across Surrey to encourage more re-use and recycling of textiles in the lead up to summer.
The campaign aims to get more old clothes, shoes and home textiles like towels and sheets into recycling centres.
All clothes and home textiles including towels, sheets, pairs of shoes, bags and socks can be recycled. They are either sorted to be used again in the UK and abroad or recycled into new products like stuffing, felt or insulation. However, stuffed items like pillows, cushions and quilts, left in bin bags, untied carrier bags or recycling bins cannot be recycled.
There are recycling centres in main car parks in Farnham, Haslemere, Hindhead and Cranleigh.
For more information see Waverley’s website www.waverley.gov.uk and search 'recycling'.
