Recovering the costs of repairs

Waverley Borough Council is appointing a Recharge Collection Officer for an initial period of 12 months.

The post is expected to achieve significant savings by recharging the minority of council tenants who cause damage to their homes.

In line with the Tenancy Agreement the new charges will include the recovery of costs incurred by the council for a variety of reasons including: damage caused to the home beyond fair wear and tear; vehicle removal; garden maintenance; rubbish clearance and damage caused by police during the execution of a warrant.

The new officer will take up the post in September and information will be sent to council tenants to inform them of the role.
