Waverley’s ambitious plans to refurbish exiting homes at Ockford Ridge, Godalming and build 99 new properties are getting underway now that planning permission has been granted for a site compound.
Although councillors overwhelmingly supported the decision, the site’s location on part of The Green, in the centre of the estate, was of some concern.
Councillor Carole King, Portfolio Holder for Housing said,
“I am very pleased that the redevelopment of Ockford Ridge can progress now that approval has been given for a site compound. Disruption to tenants will be minimised and it remains viable for Waverley to build much needed affordable homes for local people.'
'By temporarily locating the site on the Green, lorries delivering construction materials will be fewer in number as there will be storage space on the site, there will be parking space for contractors vehicles and contractors facilities. The compound will also provide good site security and will be of benefit to the welfare, health and safety of staff and residents alike.'
