Rural affordable homes

Affordable housing plays an important role in Waverley's rural villages.

House prices in these areas are higher than the South East average and almost twice the national average.

Young people are increasingly priced out of the villages they grew up in, leading to closure of shops, pubs and village schools and the loss of vital support networks.

Small scale developments of affordable housing, restricted to local people from the parish, can help to reinvigorate a community.

Research by English Rural Housing Association suggests that for every pound invested in a local rural affordable housing development, the economic and social return to the community is worth £6.50.

We work in close partnership with the Surrey Rural Housing Enabler.

Community led housing

Community led housing is inspired and controlled by the community.

Up and down the country more and more communities are successfully completing housing schemes that provide homes for local people.

We are part of the Surrey Community Housing Partnership which promotes and supports community led housing in Surrey.
