Volunteer sessions normally take place every Wednesday from 10am-3pm, except for the second Wednesday of the month when we instead work at Mare Hill Common. Meet at 10am at the Frensham Great Pond Car Park off Bacon Lane, GU10 2QB, unless otherwise specified in the listing. Sessions led by Darren.

Wednesday 27 September
Today we will continue with early scrub clearance on an area of heath near to the Great Pond. We will be cutting Birch and Pine scrub and will get our heads around our new compliment of Tree Poppers to retain the precious heathland habitats.
Today’s area is a small scrubby patch near to the beaches where the ranger has seen Grayling butterflies and foraging Nightjar in the past. Due to the current wildfire risk, we will not be burning any arisings, which will instead be chipped on site.
We will be meeting at the visitors centre at 1000 before walking to site.
Wednesday 4 October
Today we will continue with the year's scrub clearance on an area of heath near to the Great Pond. We will be cutting Birch and Pine scrub and will get our heads around our new compliment of Tree Poppers to retain the precious heathland habitats.
Today’s area is located on the edge of some really nice open mosaic heath, but has scrubbed up substantially in recent years. Due to the current wildfire risk, we will not be burning any arisings, which will instead be chipped on site.
We will be meeting at the visitors centre at 1000 before walking to site.

Today we will be joined by members of the West Weald Fungi Group to undertake a foray across the common. We will be meeting at the great pond at 1000 before heading out to collect records across the site.
Please note: This is not a foraging event. As a SSSI, foraging is not permitted on Frensham Common.
