Farnham Park is a medieval deer park within walking distance of Farnham town centre.
The southern end of the park lies about 100m north of Castle Street, an easy walk from the centre of town.
Car park
The main car park is off Folly Hill (A 287), between Farnham and Upper Hale. Sat Nav: GU9 0AU. Parking is free and near the ranger's office, which located on the left when you enter the car park.
Facilities
Farnham Park is managed for wildlife and recreation and has a Green Flag award.
It provides:
- adventure playground
- a toddlers play area
- a shared used path (suitable for both pedestrians and cyclists)
- cafe and toilets run by the golf club
- a 9 hole golf course
- cricket club
- Trim Trial

Surrey County Council path improvement works
Start date: Monday 5 June 2023
Duration: Approx. six weeks
Surrey County Council are carrying out pavement reconstruction works on the central Farnham Park path. The works will be carried out in sections, there will be signs on site to keep you updated of works and which sections will be worked on.
- Section 1: 5 June - South East entrance off Park Row to the gate
- Section 2: The gate to the Rangers House
- Section 3: The Rangers House to the end of the path at Nutshell Lane.
Once a section is being worked on, it will be closed during their works. There will be signed diversions out on site, but please note these will be accessible routes on pavements.
The park can continue to be enjoyed during this time and please be mindful of protected areas and alternate routes that you may choose.
Surrey County Council's specialist team will be repairing swallow hole, this is between the football pitches and the Rangers House. Its team will be working on a solution and will include this as part of the scheme. However, these works are dependent on specialist external solutions, and they may have to return at a later date to complete these repairs.

History and wildlife of Farnham Park
Farnham Park is a remarkable survival of a medieval deer park with a landscape of rolling grassland and veteran trees and a boundary that has remained unchanged for over 600 years. Its 320 acres (130 hectares) has retained much of its 17th parkland character and has the feel of open countryside. It offers avenues, hidden dells, hills, valleys, ponds and streams. Its elevated position provides panoramic views of Farnham and surrounding countryside. Farnham Park is a Site of Nature Conservation Importance (SNCI), an area of Historic Landscape Value (AHLV) a Grade 2 listed Historic Park and Garden (English Heritage designation), a Local Nature Reserve (LNR) and has received Green Flag status for the forth year running.
How the park is managed
The park is managed using traditional methods such as coppicing and thinning in the woodland and hay making and grazing the grassland to maintain an open landscape. We also lay hedges, clear scrub and maintain the network of ponds for a variety of wildlife. The park boundary and southern section are more formal and here we regularly cut amenity grassland, plant trees and maintain historic avenues.
