Apprenticeship Benefits

Why choose an apprenticeship?

  • Gain a nationally recognised qualification
  • Develop your existing skills or learn something new
  • Access to online learning
  • Earn as you learn
  • Career progression.

UCAS Tariff points

From September 2025, UCAS will give learners the opportunity to assign tariff points to apprenticeships. This means apprenticeship achievements are on par with traditional academic pathways.

Tariff points are a way to translate apprenticeship achievements into a numerical value used for entry requirements to higher education.

Why Tariff points matter for apprenticeships:

  • They open doors to higher education
  • They acknowledge an individual's hard work
  • They support lifelong learning.

Post Apprenticeship Recognition Scheme (PARS)

PARS is a new awards scheme for those who have completed an apprenticeship in the UK. Successful applicants will be able use letters after their name - this means you will automatically be recognised for your apprenticeship achievement.

PARS has been introduced by the Association of Apprentices and the Chartered Institution for Further Education (fees apply).

Having the PARS award letters shows:

  • You have the skills that would be an asset to an organisation
  • You have work experience embedded
  • You are part of, and contribute to, a wider apprenticeship community
  • You are committed to developing to a professional standard.
