Scams - information and advice

General advice

  • Check the URL - if it doesn't begin with 'https' and it isn't what you're expecting, then don't visit it
  • Check for slight changes in the website address - scammers will often mimic an official website address in the hope you don't notice a small change
  • Be particularly vigilant if you were directed to the website from a message or online advert
  • Read the pages on the website as it may actually state that it’s not officially affiliated with the actual organisation.

If you are in any doubt as to the legitimacy of any communication you receive purporting to be from Waverley Borough Council, please contact us on 01483 523333.

You can also report scam websites to the National Cyber Security Centre(opens in new tab).
