Waverley towns on film: Cranleigh completes series showcasing what makes our towns thrive

Waverley Borough Council has completed its series of promotional videos celebrating the diversity of business, workspaces and community life in Farnham, Godalming, Haslemere with its final film showcasing Cranleigh.

The videos bring together a wide mix of local enterprises – from creative industries and technology start-ups to outdoor lifestyle businesses, heritage manufacturers and hospitality providers – with an emphasis on innovation, collaboration and sustainable growth. Produced by Ben Burton, a local filmmaker who launched his business with support from Waverley’s free start-up programme, the films are designed to promote the borough’s towns as places where businesses can thrive and communities are actively shaping a positive future.

Portfolio Holder for Planning and Economic Development at Waverley Borough Council, Councillor Liz Townsend BEM said:

“These films celebrate the individuality and vibrancy of each of our towns, highlighting their entrepreneurial spirit, creativity and sense of community.

“By championing local businesses and talent, we are helping to build a stronger, more sustainable economy where opportunity and innovation can flourish.”

Cranleigh: dynamic and growing

Cranleigh has a strong independent spirit and a growing culture of local enterprise. The video captures both this entrepreneurial energy and the village feel - the sense that business and community work hand in hand in England’s largest village, including: Cambertronics , Silverback Studios, Celebration Cakes, alongside Knowle Park.

Farnham: creative and forward-thinking

Farnham’s video features The Maltings, a cornerstone of the town’s cultural life and its identity as England’s first designated Craft Town. It includes inclusive outdoor recreation at Frensham Pond Sailing Club, collaborative creative work at the University for the Creative Arts, and the global success of local game developer Two Point Studios. Sustainable development and new opportunity are reflected in Brightwells Yard, while Farnham Town FC highlights strong community engagement.

Godalming: innovation and sustainability

The Godalming film showcases sustainable agriculture at Hall Hunter Berries (a certified B Corp), and innovative tech from Heata, which reuses server heat to provide hot water in homes. Also featured are flexible working at Well & Good, the enduring presence of Record Corner, and the creative contribution of Rosemary Florist. Compassion in World Farming, a Godalming-based NGO with global reach, reflects the town’s role in driving progress on ethical and environmental issues.

Haslemere: connected and community-focused

Haslemere’s video features Pact Coffee, a fast-growing ethical B Corp offering local employment, alongside heritage window manufacturer Clement Windows and the collaborative workspace Studio Simple. The town’s connection to outdoor enterprise is reflected in MB Cyclery and Off Root, while Lythe Hill Hotel highlights the importance of the hospitality sector to the local economy.
