Tributes will be paid throughout Waverley over the Remembrance weekend in honour of those who have served their country in armed conflict.
This year, Remembrance Sunday falls on Sunday 8 November, the closest Sunday to Armistice Day on 11 November, which marks the end of First World War hostilities in 1918.
It is a national day to remember and honour the servicemen and women who lost their lives in conflict and those who continue to serve today.
The Mayor of Waverley, Cllr David Munro, will lay a wreath on behalf of the council at the Farnham Gostrey Meadow Memorial on 8 November. The Deputy Mayor, Cllr Penny Rivers will be laying a wreath at the Godalming Memorial.
Staff and councillors will also gather at council headquarters at The Burys on Wednesday 11 November to mark Armistice Day.
Councillor Munro said:
"Remembrance Sunday gives us an opportunity to come together as a community and reflect on the extraordinary courage, service and sacrifice of those who have given so much for our country. We remember not only those who lost their lives in conflict, but also the families and communities whose lives have been shaped by their service.
“As we gather at memorials across Waverley, let us take a moment to honour their memory, recognise the freedoms we enjoy today and reaffirm our commitment to ensuring their sacrifice is never forgotten.
“At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them."
