Residents are being encouraged to attend a special free event exploring the restoration of Willmer House, the historic home of the Museum of Farnham, on Monday 14 September 2026.

Hosted by Waverley Borough Council and The Farnham Society, the evening panel discussion will take place in the Great Hall at Farnham Maltings from 7.30pm to 9pm and will offer a unique insight into the history, significance and future of one of Farnham's most treasured heritage buildings. 

The event forms part of the "Every Brick Counts" campaign, which is helping to raise support for the conservation-led restoration of Willmer House.

Attendees will hear from an expert panel including representatives from Arts Council England, The National Lottery Heritage Fund, conservation consultant Graham Abrey, historic brick conservator Emma Simpson MBE, and local historian and author Dr Roy Waight.

The evening panel discussion will be accompanied by historic photographs, architectural images and illustrations, helping to bring the story of Willmer House and its restoration to life.

The panel will discuss:

• The architectural significance of Willmer House

• What conservation-led restoration means in practice

• Little-known stories and fascinating insights from the building's past

The evening will provide an opportunity for residents, history enthusiasts and heritage supporters to learn more about the restoration project and the importance of preserving this important part of Farnham's heritage for future generations.

The restoration project aims to safeguard the historic character of Willmer House while ensuring it continues to serve the community as the home of the Museum of Farnham for years to come.
