Call for sites privacy notice

Purpose for collecting your data

As part of the Local Plan preparation, Waverley Borough Council needs to know if there are any potential sites within the borough which should be considered for new homes or other types of development. Submitted sites are then assessed in the Land Availability Assessment (LAA) which is a key evidence document for Local Plan site allocation decisions. Sites can be submitted for any type of future use, including new homes, Gypsy and Traveller pitches, employment and retail uses.

Our Call for sites page provides further information on the process of submitting a site and our Land Availability Assessment page provides further details of how sites are assessed.

What data we collect

As well as details about the site(s), we also collect details including your name, organisation (if applicable), position (if applicable), address, postcode, email address and telephone number. We also ask for you to state your relationship to the site and whether you own the site.

Lawful basis for collecting the data

The lawful basis for collecting the data is Article 6(1)(e): processing is necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest or in the exercise of official authority vested in the controller.

Why we need it

We collect your details so that we can contact you about the site if we need to, for example to ask for further information about the site(s). This may be in relation to the LAA, the Local Plan, the Brownfield Land Register, the council's Five Year Housing Land Supply or any other work undertaken by the Planning Policy team.

What we will do with it

The data you provide will be held by the council and will only be processed and accessed by authorised employees of the council. Details you submit about the site may be published in the LAA, the Brownfield Land Register or otherwise made publicly available, however we will never publish your personal details.

We may use your data to contact you in the future about the site(s) you submit, to let you know about future call for sites exercises or to keep you updated on the progress of the Local Plan and other planning policy projects.

Sharing your data with other parties

The data you provide through the Call for Sites site will be shared with the relevant parish or town council in which the site you promote falls within. We will share the Call for Sites submission form, site location plan and any other information relating to the site with the parish/town council. Your data will be shared with the parish and town councils to enable them to assess the suitability of sites for future allocation in their Neighbourhood Plans.

How long we will keep it

Your personal data will be held on our database unless you ask us to remove it. If you no longer wish to remain on our database or if you no longer wish to be contacted with regards to a particular site, please contact us using the details below.
