Waverley Training Services (WTS) is happy to be supporting National Apprenticeship Week, a time dedicated to recognising the value and impact of apprenticeships in our community.
This year, WTS which has helped over 300 learners since 2022 to discover their potential and learn new skills and works with over 30 employers across Surrey, Hampshire, Berkshire and Sussex, is highlighting the achievements of some of its apprentices and the opportunities available through its apprenticeship programs. It holds a 100% pass rate, a ‘Good’ Ofsted rating and Matrix accreditation.
Located in Farnham, Surrey, Waverley Training Services, a department of Waverley Borough Council, offers Apprenticeships for anyone over the age of 16, helping employers to upskill their current workforce, growing and retaining talent and educate new apprentices.
Over 40 internal apprentices have been supported at Waverley; apprentices such as Kevin who is completing an Operations Manager L5 Apprenticeship; he told us a little bit about his experience so far:
"The support from Waverley Training Services has been excellent throughout, and my tutor in particular has been fantastic. Her guidance, knowledge, and approachable style have made the learning experience both supportive and challenging in the right way. She encourages reflection, discussion, and practical application, which has really helped me get the most out of the programme. Overall, the apprenticeship has been a great experience and one I would highly recommend to anyone looking to develop themselves while continuing to perform in a demanding operational role."
We also spoke to Hannah who recently completed an Apprenticeship in Business Administration. She told us:
"I highly recommend undertaking an apprenticeship in Business Administration. As someone who was new to the working world, I learnt valuable skills and techniques in organisation, time management and project management. My trainers were very kind and helpful, always happy to answer any queries I had throughout. I was able to balance my apprenticeship successfully alongside my full-time job, with monthly teaching sessions and coursework to complete. When completing my end point assessment, my trainers couldn't have been more helpful, assisting me with mock exams and reading through my work. I think this is a really valuable apprenticeship for someone looking to work in an office-based role and would love to develop new skills and gain knowledge about how businesses work"
Councillor Liz Townsend, Waverley Borough Council’s Deputy Leader of the Council, Portfolio Holder for Planning and Economic Development and WTS Chair of Governors, said:
“We are proud to champion the work of Waverley Training Services during National Apprenticeship Week. Apprenticeships play a vital role in developing local talent, supporting employers, and strengthening the skills base of our communities. The successes of our learners demonstrate the impact high‑quality training can have, both for individuals starting their careers and for those looking to progress in their current roles.”
Waverley Training Services apprenticeships cover a range of areas, including business administration, customer service, accountancy, management, and more.
