Waverley Borough Council has confirmed plans to transfer its Careline service to Taking Care, a specialist telecare provider, to ensure residents continue to receive safe, reliable and future‑ready support.
The Careline service, which provides 24‑hour emergency monitoring to help residents live independently in their own homes, will continue without interruption. There will be no increase in cost for customers as a result of the change.
Taking Care already works in partnership with the Council and currently provides Careline monitoring services. Bringing the service fully under Taking Care will help ensure it remains resilient as telecare technology evolves, including the national move from analogue to digital phone systems.
Waverley Borough Council has written directly to all existing Careline customers and their bill payers to explain the change and provide reassurance. Customers will continue to receive the same level of support, and no immediate action is required.
The Council has worked closely with Taking Care to plan a smooth and secure transition, with all relevant information transferred in line with data protection requirements.
This change supports the Council’s commitment to protecting vulnerable residents while ensuring services are delivered in a sustainable and effective way for the future.
Residents with questions about the Careline service can contact the Careline team or Customer Services for further information.
Councillor Kika Mirylees, Waverley Borough Council Portfolio Holder for Community Services, Leisure and EDI, said:
“Our priority has always been the safety, wellbeing and peace of mind of residents who rely on the Careline service. Transferring the service to a specialist provider we already work with ensures there is no interruption to support, no increase in cost, and that the service is well placed to meet future needs as telecare technology continues to change.
“This change has been carefully planned, and customers are being supported throughout the transition.”
