Have you heard about walking football?
This low impact, indoor football is a slower version of the ‘beautiful game’ and will be available at Dynamo Walkers FC, at The Edge leisure centre, Haslemere from 5 October.
Aimed at getting players back into the sport, the sessions, supported by Waverley Borough Council, have been created especially for over 50s (although not limited to that age), those who might be recovering from injury or experience lack of mobility.
The sessions will be held in the indoor Sports Hall at The Edge Leisure Centre on a twice weekly basis: Wednesdays 17:00 to 17:50, and Fridays 17:00 to 18:00.
There will be a maximum of 16 players on the pitch during any session and the cost will be £7.00 per session.
Councillor Kika Mirylees, Waverley Borough Council Portfolio Holder for Health, Wellbeing, Parks and Leisure, said: “This is a great opportunity for those who love the game but, perhaps through injury or other circumstances, aren’t able to take part in the original, somewhat faster version. It’s a chance to feel fitter and stay healthy as well as meet up with friends, old and new, at their local club.”
Walking football is endorsed and encouraged by The Walking Football Association and by both Age UK and The FA.
