Residents invited to choose designs for new inclusive playgrounds in Farnham, Godalming, and Hascombe

Waverley Borough Council has revealed plans for three exciting new play areas in Farnham, Godalming and Hascombe, and is asking residents to vote for their favourite.

The council consulted with the community in July to find out what sort of play equipment local families and children would like to see installed at Longbourne Green in Godalming, Baldreys Recreation ground in Farnham and Hascombe Recreation Ground. The feedback from residents has been used to create a wonderful selection of designs for new play equipment in each area.

All the potential designs include a range of brand-new play equipment that provides young children with ample opportunities to spin, slide, balance, bounce, climb and swing. They feature inclusive play equipment for children with disabilities, and accessible units that enable children of all ages and abilities to play together.

Residents can view all the design options for each playground, and vote for the ones they like most, at www.waverley.gov.uk/majorprojects. Voting is open until 12pm on Friday 20 December 2024.

The community vote will form an important part of the evaluation process, and the final designs will be implemented as part of the council’s ongoing commitment to creating safe and enjoyable recreational spaces for local children.

Councillor Steve Williams, Waverley Borough Council Portfolio Holder for Environment and Sustainability said:

“These exciting new playground designs reflect our commitment to creating inclusive, accessible, and fun spaces for children to enjoy. All the designs look fantastic, but we want to know which ones are your favourite, so please head over to our website and register your vote.

“By involving the community in the decision-making process, we are ensuring that the play areas meet the needs and wishes of our residents, and I’m excited to see the positive impact these new facilities will have on our children’s well-being and development.”

Waverley Borough Council will manage the tender process and oversee the installation and ongoing maintenance at each play area.
