Have your say on Waverley’s affordable housing projects

Waverley Borough Council has launched a new online engagement hub to give local people the chance to comment on its affordable housing projects in the borough.

Providing good quality housing for people of all ages and incomes is one of Waverley Borough Councils most important priorities. The council is using the online engagement platform Commonplace to share information about the new homes it is building for the local community. The hub enables people to provide feedback directly to the council, and helps everyone stay up-to-date with all the latest news and events.

The new housing development hub went live on Commonplace on Monday 8 July and residents can enter their email address at www.waverley.gov.uk/housingdev to receive notifications about all the latest projects and consultations. There’s currently the chance to comment on plans for 26 new affordable, energy efficient and sustainable homes at Springfield in Elstead, or to find out about the new affordable homes currently being built at Aarons Hill and Ockford Ridge in Godalming, and the recently completed homes at Riverside Court in Farnham.

Commonplace makes it simple for residents to share their thoughts and ideas with the council, helping to shape the council’s development projects. It is a simple way for the council to share plans, designs and useful information with people at an early stage, and gather valuable feedback from local communities.

Councillor Janet Crowe, Waverley Borough Council Co-Portfolio Holder for Housing (Delivery) said:

“Waverley Borough Council is committed to building new homes for local workers on low incomes at rents they can afford.

“We are taking the Climate Emergency extremely seriously and we are leading the way by ensuring every new home we build is energy efficient. This not only benefits the environment, but it also helps to keep our residents’ energy bills down.

“We want to make sure that every new home we build is in keeping with the surrounding area and meets the needs of our residents. The local knowledge of our communities is vital to help us do this, so please add your email address to our Commonplace consultation hub so you can have your say on our new affordable housing developments.”
