Christina Taylor-Smith: Zen Garden

Location: New Ashgate Gallery, Wagon Yard, Lower Church Lane, Farnham, Surrey, GU9 7PS, United Kingdom

Christina Taylor-Smith is a British printmaker whose work uses line, texture and colour to map the pull between natural rhythms and human-made structures. This exhibition focuses on her new Oxford body of work.

Expect layered prints with a strong sense of surface and light, built through drawn marks, embossing and, in some pieces, metal leaf. The starting point is a crane motif, chosen for its associations with wisdom, longevity, and renewal.

Christina developed the work while researching Waterperry Gardens and the ideas behind The Printed Garden, tracing links between observation, philosophy, and the love of wisdom. In a time that can feel loud and uncertain, the work holds space for attention, clarity, and quiet strength.

Christina studied fine art in Brussels and at the Surrey Institute in Farnham and was Head of Printmaking and Artist in Residence at South Hill Park Arts Centre.
