Council Tax support

If you’re on a low income or receive benefits, you may be able to reduce your Council Tax bill through Council Tax Support.

Council Tax Support is based on your financial circumstances and is different from discounts and exemptions.

How your bill is calculated

Your Council Tax bill is based on:

  • your property’s Council Tax band
  • the charges set by Waverley Borough Council
  • charges from Surrey County Council and Surrey Police,
  • any parish or town council charges
  • any discounts, exemptions or reductions you receive

You can check your band and see how charges are set each year.

How your Council Tax is calculated

Tell us about a change

You must tell us if something changes that could affect your Council Tax, including:

  • a change in household members
  • illness or exemption‑related changes
  • a change in how a property is used

This helps ensure your bill stays accurate.
