A Waverley countryside ranger has saved the life of a buzzard, after finding the bird of prey seemingly lifeless on the side of a road.

On Monday, Frensham Great Pond and Common Countryside Ranger Steve Webster spotted the bird lying on the side of the road.

After stopping to check if it was still alive, Steve picked up the feathered animal when he noticed it was showing signs of life.

Steve took the buzzard to a 24-hour veterinary practise where it stayed overnight. The next day he took the buzzard to Brent Lodge Wildlife Hospital in Chichester, where staff checked it over and said they thought it was a female.

The buzzard has been making great progress and is currently in an aviary.
