Waverley Borough Council will be attending Guildford Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 25 July at 2pm to seek authority to move travellers from Brightwells Gardens and Wrecclesham Recreation Ground.

The incursion at Wrecclesham Recreation Ground, which was set up late Friday evening (21) July, is the sixth incursion in Farnham in the last 12 days.

Councillor Julia Potts, Leader of Waverley Borough Council, said: “Council officers and Surrey Police officers are conducting regular patrols of the sites and we have stepped up security in some areas to provide community reassurance.

“We have used our powers to evict the travellers as quickly as possible, however they have continued to remain in the Farnham area. The council and the police are looking at how we manage the situation and will be liaising with other local authorities, Elmbridge and Surrey Heath, which are experiencing similar situations.”
