Waverley Borough Council is inviting council tenants to come and meet the people who will be responsible for repairing their homes at a meet and greet event.
The event will take place on Friday 15 February between 10am-2pm at Godalming Baptist Church.
The council’s new repairs and maintenance contractor MPS (previously known as Mitie) will be on hand to meet tenants, answer any questions and provide advice on home repairs. They are also keen to meet and talk to people who may be interested in their apprenticeship training programme.
Councillor Carole King, Portfolio Holder for Housing at Waverley Borough Council, said: “This event is a great way for tenants to come and meet MPS and ask any questions that they may have about the upkeep of their homes. A lot of work is undertaken each year to maintain Waverley’s homes to a high standard.
“That was why it was so important to get the maintenance contract process right. I believe MPS will be able to provide a high level of service, while also providing value for money.”
Each year, the council carries out more than 20,000 day-to-day repairs to the 5,000 homes it owns, as well as improvements to prepare around 270 homes for re-letting. MPS have been contracted to carry out all responsive repair work on Waverley’s council homes from Monday 1 April, following an extensive procurement process involving tenants.
Vicky Fordham-Lewis, MPS Managing Director said: “We are delighted to be working in partnership with Waverley Borough Council to deliver the repairs and maintenance service to their housing stock in the borough. The contract will also be offering apprenticeship positions for motivated individuals who enjoy working as part of a busy team. Further information about our services and the apprenticeship positions will be available at the meet and greet event.”
