Borough's new Mayor gives her support to the Armed Forces

Councillor Denise Le Gal took over as Waverley’s new Mayor on Tuesday 15 May, taking the chain of office from Councillor Simon Inchbald.

In her induction speech she thanked the Leader of the Council, Julia Potts and Councillor Peter Martin for their nominations. She made a vow to do her best to serve the office and the residents of Waverley.  

Councillor Le Gal has chosen to support ABF The Soldiers’ Charity during her mayoral year. 

In her role as Mayor, Councillor Le Gal will attend a wide variety of engagements, acting as an ambassador for the council.

Councillor Le Gal represents the Farnham Heath and Heath End ward. She was first elected to Waverley Borough Council in 2007 and re-elected in 2015. She was also Surrey County Councillor from 2009 to 2017 and served as a member of the Cabinet for Business Services.  

She is currently Chair of the Brunel Pension Partnership, Chairman of the LGA’s Local Government Pension Committee (LGPC) and board member of the LGPS Scheme Advisory Board. In another capacity, Denise is a Trustee Director of the JP Morgan UK Retirement Plan.

The Deputy Mayor is Mary Foryszewski.
