Annual Canvass 2019

What is the Annual Canvass?

In July, every household was sent a letter, called a Household Enquiry Form, asking someone living at the address to confirm that the details on the form are still correct, or to provide up-to-date information about anyone eligible to vote living at the property.

A reminder was sent out in August.

For properties where a reply has not been received, Canvassers have been employed to carry out personal visits.

This is the Annual Canvass - a check that we are required to carry out each year to ensure that the electoral register is accurate and up to date. It is a legal requirement that households respond to this form, even if the information on it is still correct.

If you inform us that new electors are living at the property we will send each person a letter (Invitation to Register) asking them to register to vote. They can also do this online.

Canvassers employed by Waverley Borough Council will be knocking on doors from 23 September. All Canvassers carry I.D and they will be able to discuss voter registration with householders.

How do I respond?

To confirm existing details:

Online: Using the household update service

Text: NO CHANGE followed by both parts of your security code (see form) to 80212

Call: 0800 197 9871

If the details need to be changed:

Online: Using the household update service

If you are unable to respond via the above methods, you can complete and post the form back to us in the freepost envelope which will have been included with the form sent to you.
