Pollution from construction sites

Noise and air pollution from construction sites can often be a source of irritation for residents.

Construction code of practice

The Construction code of practice for small developments in Waverley gives guidance on the measures that Waverley Borough Council expects contractors to take to minimise the environmental impacts of their work on the local community.

Try and resolve the issue informally

If a contractor is not following the construction code of practice, you should contact the company directly to see if you can resolve the issue informally.  However, where this is not possible or it is ineffective, you should contact us.

Contact Environmental Health

If you are troubled by pollution from a construction project in Waverley, or have a general enquiry, please contact the Environmental Health customer support team:

What we can do

We will investigate complaints relating to pollution arising from construction sites. We are able to serve a Notice if the problem could cause a health risk or nuisance. Failure to comply with a Notice is an offence and legal proceedings may result.
