Public Space Protection Orders (PSPOs) relate to activities taking place which are or may be detrimental to the local community's quality of life.
On 1 January 2019 we introduced a Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) to deal with the issue of dog fouling in public spaces.
Following consultation, a second PSPO was approved by Council, effective from 1 January 2020, to ensure that dogs are responsibly managed at all times in public spaces.
Initial suggestions to limit the number of dogs one person can exercise are not included within these PSPOs. Proposals will be considered next year, alongside further consultation before any final decisions to limit the number of dogs are progressed.
