Walks for Health

Walking for health logo


Join us on our weekly health walks and take part in regular exercise meeting new people. Best of all they are FREE.

All you need to do is turn up in suitable clothes and comfortable shoes to enjoy the walk.

Details about the walks

  • Most walks are 30-90 minutes and approximately two miles.
  • Walk routes vary every week, some locations offer a longer walk once every month.
  • Walks take account of the pace of the slowest person, but the aim is for brisk walking to increase your heart rate and make you breathe a little faster than normal.

Register before your first walk

Please allow five minutes to register at the start of your first walk so you can fill in a brief registration form.

You will need your GP's agreement if you have been diagnosed or have problems with your heart, balance, joints or bones, or have experienced pains in the chest.

Walk times and locations

Location Days and times
  • Tuesday at 11am (meet at Cranleigh Leisure Centre).
  • A 40-90-minute walk.
  • Tea and coffee available at the end of every walk (payable at the time)

In addition:

Walking for Health - Tuesday amble

A FREE 30 minute wellbeing walk for those recovering from illness, living with Dementia,  or those returning to physical activity and in need of a gentle group walk. Join the group in the Café after for tea and coffee.

Every Tuesday 10:15am meet at Cranleigh Leisure Centre, 10:30am walk starts. No need to book, just turn up. New walkers will need to complete registration forms at 10:15am prior to the walk.  


Tuesday at 10.30am (meet at Farnham Leisure Centre)

Choose from:

  • A 60-minute walk of approx. 2 miles.
  • A shorter, slower walk which takes about 30 mins

In addition:

  • A 30-minute walk on the first Tuesday of each month
  • A 90-minute, faster, longer walk on the last Tuesday of each month, for more experienced walkers.

Tuesdays at 10:30am (meet at the corner of the tennis courts by Broadwater Lake). A 30-60 minute walk.

Thursdays at 11am. Meet beside the Walks for Health meeting post on the Riverside Walk in the Phillips Memorial Park. This is found by taking the entrance path into the Park, opposite the Council Offices car park (yellow barriers). A 40-60 minute walk.

In addition:

  • A 30-minute walk on the second Thursday of every month.
  • A 90-minute, longer walk replaces the regular walk on the first Thursday of every month and includes a pub lunch (bring money).

40-60 min walks (about two miles) on:

  • Tuesday at 2.30pm, from Haslewey Community Centre
  • Thursday at 1pm, from St. Bartholomew's Church
  • Saturday at 11am, from Haslemere Leisure Centre

In addition:

  • A 30-minute walk on the first Tuesday of every month, leaves at 2.30pm from Haslewey Community Centre.

Binscombe GP Walking for Health

The Binscombe Medical Centre's Walking for Health group meet at Broadwater park every Tuesday at 10.15am. Please watch the video which is going to be included in their GP conference in November.

New volunteer leaders wanted

We always need new leaders and full training is provided on a local one-day training courses. No previous experience is necessary, just a willingness to help and an enjoyment of walking to share with others.
