What happens next?

Once you have applied online, an officer will visit your home to check your details and discuss options.

Minor aids and adaptations

We will send you a letter approving the adaptations and will carry out the work within 30 days.

Major adaptations

We pass applications for major adaptations to Surrey County Council's Social Care team. They will call you to complete a telephone assessment and prioritise your case.

After this call, Surrey County Council’s occupational therapist will make an appointment to come and see you in your home and assess your personal needs. There may be a waiting list for this. Once the occupational therapist has seen you, they will send us a report so that we can make a decision.

You will receive a letter telling you what major adaptations we plan to make to your home. In some cases, we will also consult a building surveyor to ensure that the required alterations are structurally possible and financially viable.
