New measures came into place across England on 5 November to help protect people, businesses and the NHS and prevent the spread of Covid-19.

If you are a resident who needs support and advice, particularly during Covid-19, please take a look at the organisations below to see how we can help.

We have recently allocated just over £56,000 to some of these local organisations. This money was part of a £63 million grant for local authorities in England to help those who are struggling to afford food and other essentials due to COVID-19.

Find financial support for essential items

The hardship funds below have been developed in response to the impact of coronavirus on local residents.  You can apply, via the routes outlined, for  items such as food, household appliances (and other household items), school uniforms, the cost of utility bills and other costs deemed to be essential.

Help to put food on the table or access essential hygiene items

The organisations below can help you to access food and other essential household / hygiene items.

 

If you are experiencing food poverty you may wish to contact one of the local organisations who offer information and advice such as Citizen's Advice Waverley and Age UK Surrey whose experienced advisors can find out what benefits you may be entitled to such as Universal Credit, Housing Benefit and Attendance Allowance.

Godalming Community Store

The Community Store is about the community supporting its friends and neighbours at a time of increased need.  It takes in donations and then makes them available free of charge to others. The Community Store can help with basic food, personal hygiene, sanitary and domestic cleaning items. 

The store is located at the Wilfrid Noyce Centre, Crown Court Car Park, Godalming, and will be open Monday-Friday from 10.30am to 12.30pm (excluding Bank Holidays).

The Community Store can assist with free basic food, personal hygiene, sanitary and domestic cleaning items.  The Community Fridge within the Store can also offer fresh produce as well.

The Community Store is a temporary measure during the current coronavirus pandemic to supplement the work of the Haslemere Foodbank. The Community Store will be operating from the Haslemere Hall and will be open on a Wednesday from 10:30am to 12:30pm.
