Community Wellbeing

Community wellbeing

Knowing who to ask to get advice from and where to go to stay active means you’re more likely to be healthy and happy. Services have an important role to play but sometimes it’s your friends, family and community that spot when things aren’t going well first and can lend a helping hand to stop things getting any worse.

Community Mapping

Waverley has a vast amount of community spirit and you can find out more about community activities local to you on our Community Walk map. Anyone can add new activities (and edit/delete those that they’ve posted). We’ve also created a helpful guide for running your own events which can used for connecting people together over a single issue (e.g. finding volunteers for community transport scheme) or something more general (e.g. supporting older residents at home).

Grants and funding

Through its grant funding panel Waverley funds charities, voluntary organisations and community groups. These groups help improve the health and wellbeing of their local area through provision of community services.   A full list of Waverley funded organisations is published every year.

If you are thinking of starting up a new community project or expanding the services of your group you can use our Waverley4Community grant finder to find out what funding is available?
