Borough and Parish Elections - Thursday 2 May 2019

We will be holding elections on Thursday 2 May 2019 to elect councillors for all borough and town/ parish seats. Polling stations will be open from 7am to 10pm.

The count for the borough council elections will take place on Friday 3 May. The count for the town/ parish elections will take place on Saturday 4 May.

Deadline for registration

The last date to register, in time to vote in these elections, is 12 April 2019.

Deadline to apply for a postal vote

The deadline to apply to receive your ballot papers by post is 5pm 15 April 2019. Please download and print an application form to apply.

Postal votes are scheduled to be despatched to overseas addresses on Monday 8 April.

Postal votes for all those with a postal vote in place before 19 March are due to be despatched on Friday 12 April.

Voters who apply for a postal vote from 19 March will be sent their postal packs on Thursday 18 April.

All postal packs will be despatched by first class post.


Deadline to appoint someone else to vote on your behalf (proxy voting)

The deadline to appoint someone else to vote on your behalf is 5pm 24 April. Please download and print an application form to apply.

Please note, anyone who is appointed to vote on someone else's behalf must attend the normal polling station for the person for whom they are voting, unless they apply to vote by proxy by post before the postal application deadline on 15 April 2019.


Postal ballot papers that have been lost, spoilt or have not arrived

We can re-issue postal ballot papers that have been lost, spoilt, or have not arrived, from 26 April 2019.

We are not allowed to re-issue postal ballot papers before this date by law.


Emergency proxy voting

If you have been taken ill, or called away on business, after 5pm 24 April 2019, you may be eligible to appoint someone else to vote on your behalf, on an emergency basis. You must contact the elections team to organise this.
