Surrey District and Borough Councils: Local Government Reorganisation and Collaboration

In August 2020 Leaders of all 11 of Surrey’s district and borough councils launched their ‘Putting Residents First’ campaign. As part of this, a report was commissioned to review local government provision across the county and explore ways of joint working with partners and closer collaboration. The report can be found here.

It has involved work by all 11 of Surrey’s district and borough councils with KPMG’s assistance.

The report highlights collaboration opportunities in areas such as waste, building control, IT infrastructure, housing, revenues & benefits, procurement, economic development and leisure services.

Currently 11 district and borough councils are firmly focused on helping residents through the COVID-19 pandemic – and this will be the priority for some time. The report will be revisited in the future.
